The Y WA is delighted to officially welcome Dr Tim McDonald as the new CEO!

Stepping up to the podium from today, 9 August 2021, Tim is a strategic leader and recognised innovator with over 20 years’ experience leading change in education systems and the philanthropic sector.

After almost ten years of Ross Kyrwood at the head, Tim is keen to continue Ross’ great work in growing the impact of the Y and ensuring that we continue to foster an environment that inspires and empowers young people.

“I am looking forward to joining the Y WA to continue to make a difference. I believe all young people have the potential for greatness. I want to honour the legacy of the previous leaders and all the staff who work at the Y, so we can continue to grow the organisation and amplify the great work that’s being carried out in communities across the state,” explained Dr Tim McDonald, the Y WA CEO.

“I was attracted to the Y as it is a values-based organisation that I relate to, and I feel I can get behind 100%. I share the passion and the belief in empowering and inspiring young people, as that is what's at the heart of thriving communities where all people flourish.”

With a background entrenched in student engagement and achievement, well-being and innovation in the fields of education, youth justice and employment, Tim is a passionate and accomplished changemaker. The Board is thrilled to have someone of Dr Tim McDonald’s experience and energy leading the organisation, the Y WA President, Mr Justin Eve explained.

“Tim has significant experience developing and implementing educational transformations and will support our new youth service offering as we move forward. This will enable us to further secure our position in the youth space, whilst continuing to grow our child care services across the state,” Mr Eve said.

We are very excited to welcome Dr Tim McDonald to the Y WA and are eager to see his impact take shape as he grasps the reins as CEO.
