A message from our CEO

General

In preparation for this message I have spent some time reflecting on the challenges and achievements of this year and am very proud of our accomplishments and excited about the direction we are heading. What we are doing now collectively as a state-wide organisation is making the Y very relevant and strong for the communities that we are working with.

Our staff are embracing our direction and owning our mission to grow children and young people in body mind and spirit. It is inspiring to see the commitment to our three key focus areas; early education transitioning into preschool, youth transitioning into adulthood and community leadership, and the community transitioning in their health and wellness journey. It’s these three areas we wish YMCA WA to be known for in the community, and through everyone’s hard work and dedication we’re well on the way to making a real impact on communities all around the state.

With our focus on improving the quality of services and introduction of results based accountability as an outcomes measurement tool I’m confident that together with the passion of our staff, YMCA WA will be here to empower and support communities in Western Australia for a long time.

I’m an absolute believer that for us to continue to build this foundation and to move on to 2017, it’s about us getting even better at the work we do every day. In 2017 you will see more locations that are offering Outside School Hours Care as we grow our service delivery.  Our before school, after school and vacation care options give families quality care when needed whether it be due to work commitments or respite.

The end of 2016 brings to a close Brad Wylynko’s tenure as YMCA WA President. After four wonderful years Brad has announced his retirement, opening the door for Board member Justin Eve to step into the role. On behalf of everyone at the Y I’d like to thank Brad for his service and congratulate Justin on his new appointment.

Next year we look forward to talking to you more about our new belief statement; we believe in the power of inspired young people. We’re excited to show you what that means to YMCA WA and we will keep you updated as we share this journey with you.

Thank you for your ongoing support of YMCA WA, we can’t wait to have you standing with us again in 2017. May you and your families have a safe and happy Christmas.
