Bookmark Competition Brings Book Week to Life for Little Ones

General

This Book Week, we ran our first-ever bookmark competition across all 14 of our early learning centres (ELCs).

The competition encouraged children to showcase their creativity and love for reading by designing their very own bookmark. The entries were full of imagination, featuring everything from favourite storybook characters to playful patterns and vibrant colours.

The winning entry, a vibrant rainbow design was professionally printed and shared with students at Brentwood Primary School during Book Week celebrations with Nova 937’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun. It was a proud moment that spread the joy of reading beyond our centres and into the wider community.

This competition was made possible thanks to the support and encouragement of our ELC teams, who helped children bring their ideas to life and celebrated their efforts every step of the way. More than just an art activity, the competition gave children the chance to express themselves, build confidence and take pride in their creativity.

A big thank you to all the children, educators and centres who took part. You made our first Bookmark Competition a colourful success. At the Y WA, we’re proud to nurture children’s learning, creativity and confidence, and we look forward to building on this new tradition in the years ahead.
