The Y Kalgoorlie Early Learning Centre (ELC) has been making waves in the Goldfields, with both the centre and one of its leaders recognised at the 2025 KBCCI Goldfields Business Awards presented by BHP.
The ELC, was nominated for the prestigious awards, which acknowledge excellence in business and celebrate organisations and employees who contribute to the sustainability of the Goldfields. This nomination reflects centre director Kirsti’s leadership and the incredible dedication of the Kalgoorlie team, who support young children to flourish and earn the trust of families across the region every day.
Adding to the celebration, Educational Leader Katherine (Katie) Gamble took home the Education and Training Award. Katie provides professional development and mentorship to educators across all 14 Y WA centres from Broome to Albany, with a particular focus on supporting educators in regional WA.
Katie said by providing support to other educators in the state, specifically those in regional WA, more children could receive high quality care.
“I’ve been able to help bridge the gap and do a lot of virtual training and one-on-one support where I can help them feel a little more at ease. To be able to make an impact with the educators and help them feel empowered, my reach can go so much further than my own classroom”.
Nominated by her fellow centre director, Katie was recognised for her passion and commitment to children’s success, as well as her role in shaping the next generation of educators.
“This career path is one of the most rewarding that you can have. You get to touch so many people’s lives for even just a short amount of time, but those interactions that you have can have a positive effect for the rest of their lives. It just matters so much to be able to help shape the future and make a difference in the lives of children”.
Katie is determined to continue mentoring and training fellow educators, helping build a bright future for children across WA.
