They may be in completely opposing directions and sit more than 1,600kms apart but there’s now one major similarity between Warnbro Community Y and Port Hedland Leisure: both centres have had fresh makeovers.
Warnbro centre administrator Tina Sparshatt-Potter says everybody who has come through the centre since the refurbishments has noticed and loved the changes.
“Our flooring has been completely redone, we have a brand new reception desk and the front area has been freshly painted. The group fitness area has fresh carpet and has also been re-painted, the tiles in our bathrooms and showers have been re- painted and re-tiled, and areas of the roof have been painted as well,” Tina said.
“The staff love it and the members too – everybody notices it – they love the new look and they’re really happy with it!”
At Port Hedland Leisure, they welcomed an astounding 71 new members the week they reopened with their fresh new look!
The facility is only four years old but Facilities Coordinator Danielle Gear said it needed the touch-ups done.
“We re-painted all of the walls, got new equipment and set up a completely new layout. We’ve been able to make much better use of the space and we’ve upgraded a lot of our equipment too. All of our new cardio equipment are connected to Foxtel so we have it installed on every machine, and with new cable jungles, hip and glutes machines, ropes, kettle bells etc – it’s a fresh new gym!” Danielle said.
The team completed all of the renovations, including removing all old equipment and setting up the new machines, within the space of a week and they have only received positive on the new look and quick turnaround.
“We let our members know we’d be shut for a week and we offered other weight-based classes if they were a gym only member, but people were so excited we were going to have a new gym – they didn’t see it as a negative which was awesome. We held a free breakfast for our members when we launched it and the Mayor attended which was fantastic – we’ve had really positive feedback from everyone!”
