We are proud to share that our Youth Parliament Program has been awarded the Y WA Collective Action Award at the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA) 2025 Awards.
This recognition celebrates 30 years of empowering young West Australians to actively engage in democracy. Through the Y WA Youth Parliament, participants gain skills in public speaking, policy development, and leadership - while contributing to real legislative change in our state. Alumni of the program have helped shape important reforms, including environmental protections and cyber safety laws, showing the power of youth-led action.
Behind the programs success is the Youth Parliament Taskforce, whose dedication ensures the program remains youth-led, inclusive, and impactful. Their passion and hard work make it possible for young people to represent their communities, debate real issues in State Parliament, and build the confidence to lead change.
We also celebrate Youth Worker Janelle from the Y School, who was a finalist for the Minister for Youth’s Most Outstanding Youth Worker Award. Janelle’s commitment to building community, strengthening cultural connections, and fostering confidence in young people has made a lasting difference at the Y School and beyond. It is inspiring to see her contributions recognised at a state level.
Together, these achievements reflect our ongoing commitment to amplifying young voices, building leadership, and ensuring youth are active contributors to a more inclusive and innovative Western Australia.
