FAQ

Who can nominate?

Anyone! We welcome any Y staff or parents/caregivers of a child or young person attending one of our OSHC services to nominate and recognise a child or young person for the Inspired Young Person Award.

What can be classified as aspirational, inspirational or achievement?

Have they just learnt to tie their shoelaces? Have they participated in community activities? Have they always had a positive attitude, helping and encouraging classmates? Any of the above and beyond, great or small, is considered award-worthy - we encourage all applications to highlight the young person you are intending to nominate!

Who can be nominated?

Any young person who attends a YMCA WA OSHC can be nominated for the Inspired Young Person Award.

How do you prepare a nomination?

When completing the nomination form it is important to provide specific examples of how the young person has been inspiring.

In addition, it is helpful to include examples that best show how the nominee has gone above and beyond and what makes them inspirational.

How are nominations assessed?

The YMCA WA OSCH Area Managers will select a winner from each OSHC. These winners will then be considered by a panel of judges created by the YMCA WA to determine the overall winner.

In considering nominations, OSHC Area Managers and judges will be looking to see the young person has:

  • demonstrated inspiring behaviour/achievement;
  • made a contribution over and above what might be reasonably expected; or
  • whose contribution to the community stands out from others who may have also made a valuable contribution.

Are nominations confidential?

All nominations are strictly confidential, and the information provided will only be used to assist the Area Managers and judges in considering the nominations.

Who will be judging and when will it take place?

A panel of judges will be selected and will choose the OSHC winners and overall winner. The OSHC winners will be announced the week of 19 July 2021. The overall winner will be announced the week of 8 August 2021.

What are the prizes?

There will be a winner selected from each OSHC service who will recieve a $25 gift voucher.

The overall winner will recieve a $100 voucher.

How are winners told of their award?

Winner’s families will be advised via email. The names of successful winners will be published on the YMCA WA Facebook, Instagram, YMCA OSHC Facebook and YMCA OSHC website pages.
